Combinations and Routines Chart

Masters of Sport has provided a Combinations & Routines breakdown sample for Level 8. The sample routines show how to breakdown routines to use throughout the annual plan.

  1. Training for routines is difficult and taxing on the athlete’s body.
  2. Gymnastics, due to its difficulty, should not impose full difficulty routines upon its athletes from the start of their season.
  3. Use a step-up process to train muscular endurance from short and long combinations to modified full routines and finally full routines. This process will help the development of the athlete as well as their safety.

This manual is included in a Pro Pack plan.

Physical Preparation Charts

Masters of Sport has provided exercises for Physical Preparation. The exercises are to be used for ALL phases of the annual training period.

  • C — Lower Core — Front — Tuck
  • D — Upper Core — Back
  • E — Lower Core — Back
  • F — Side Core — Oblique

Side Station Charts

Masters of Sport has provided each event Side Station Charts. Side Stations encompass many important parts of the event training and should be developed further.

Charts, circuits or lists of all “side” activities executed at each event are cataloged. Throughout the annual plan, athletes/coaches will refer to the specific assigned material of what is to be done. Preplanning will save valuable time and keep everyone on the same path to success.

Each event will have a handstand station, strength (specific to that event), and other various charts. This is the one chart to develop further!

This manual is included in a Pro Pack plan.

Flexibility Charts & Circuits

Flexibility training is performed at the end of training during the Conditioning section. Masters of Sport has identified several types of flexibility work to maintain interest through a variety of Flex Charts/Circuits. Included in the Annual Plan are also the supplemental Flex Charts for PNF and Active Flex.

Virtually every training day has an assigned flex station in the conditioning phase. There are five (5) ways to work the athletes flexibility: Ballet Barre, PNF Flex Circuit, Active Flex Circuit, Flex Circuit and Yoga Flex Circuit all serve in the flexibility capacity.

Where “Flex Chart” is noted, this signifies it is Coaches Choice on what flexibility work to perform. Choose from Active Flex (bungee kicks, etc. and is recommended), PNF Flex, Ballet Barre, Yoga Flex (2nd recommendation).

This manual is included in a Pro Pack plan.

Strength & Conditioning Charts

Types of conditioning circuits—With gymnastics so difficult and intricate, conditioning specific body parts is necessary. In some phases, the entire body is conditioned with light, higher numbers and usually all body parts included in one day. Other phases approaching the competition season, need lower numbers with higher weight or shorter time to complete to enhance the needs of the athletes.

Each specific Chart or Circuit may be used (mostly intact) for each of the training Phases with just the numbers increased/decreased, weight increased/decreased or time shortened/lengthened.

This manual is included in a Pro Pack plan.

Plyometrics Circuits & Charts

Masters of Sport has provided three (3) Charts for plyometric training. the Plyometric Circuit is for the 5-week bout, one, EnduroPly® is a tumbling/plyometric circuit. The remaining circuit, called Plyo Chart, is a less intense 1-2 day bouts offered periodically throughout the annual plan.

While plyo exercises show benefits for reducing lower extremity injuries, there is a factor of increased injury due to the large force generated  during the exercise. Should ONLY be performed by well conditioned athletes.

The benefits of plyometrics: Improves muscular strength and jump abilities which therefore increases power.

This manual is included in a Pro Pack plan.

Shaping Charts

Masters of Sport has provided a Sliders Chart, Physic Ball Chart and Straps Chart for the shaping exercises. Coaches should expand these charts to fill the needs of their gym and team levels. When the conditions calls for a Shapes Chart, it is the Coaches Choice to pick which Shapes Chart to use.

Using sliders, balls and straps, exercises have been designed to bring variety to the athletes conditioning plan. Addresses the upper body, core and lower extremities, using objects are fun and different.

The use of straps for conditioning and shaping is bringing a new and fun activity to the athletes. Recovery path athletes as well will benefit greatly from using straps as they can support the injured part of the body while performing conditioning. Straps are easy to set up and use.
