Periodization Training Plan
The art of planning a yearly training plan can be a daunting task. Understanding the steps needed to create a solid plan to work from for each level of athlete can be time-consuming and confusing.
Masters of Sport has taken periodization science to a new level of basic understanding for the coach. A summary card for each of the ten (10) steps required to make a Periodization Training Plan.
Mary Turn
Completing a toe turn on the beam can be stressful, unless you are learning the “Mary Turn”.
Breaking down the full (360º) turn into 4-counts of specific positions with the arms and head, the turn now becomes a mastered element. Adding a spot to the end of the beam aids in the overall performance of a “no-wobble” turn element for all levels.
Developmental Teams—”Devo” Team
Creating and coaching a developmental team with a gym is an art. The extensive planning is time-consuming and intensive. However, the end result is a feeder program of prepared little athletes with an excellent basic skill background from which to build on.
Complete with letters to parents, verification forms, Daily Lesson Plans and more, Developmental Teams is a winner.
Training the female gymnast is a challenging task. Some athletes are innately more optimistic and realize the struggle is temporary because the cause of their distress is temporary.
Maladaptive and Adaptive behaviors tend to show up in training high-pressure athletes. By understanding the signs and signals from athletes, we, as coaches, can better equip them for success.
Guiding Athletes Through Skill & Strength Development
By using Periodization Training Plan phases, developing skills with the proper strength for mastering these skills becomes easier and safer for the athlete.
Each of the phases requires a specific level of strength and emphasis to ensure success at each level of training and skill acquisition.
Twenty-Two (22) Immutable Laws of Marketing
Applying sound laws of basic marketing, the Twenty-Two (22) Laws of Marketing will enlighten the gym owner or manager to new ways of viewing the gymnastics market.
Learning from mistakes made in the past, examples are given as to how to avoid the pitfalls of some basic concepts in marketing and how they can enrich your community involvement.
Breaking Down Beam Dance Skills
Each dance skill on the beam requires a specific “take-off” position, “in the air” position, and a “landing position”. In addition, arm patterns and leg patterns should be drilled to ensure maximum efficiency in execution.
Using theraband and a trampoline or tumble track will help master the positions needed for the safe and accurate execution of basic dance skills.
